Modern Art & Science
For this project, I set out to create a book cover that embodies the boldness and dynamism of modern art while maintaining a strong typographic and compositional structure. Here’s a look at my design process:
Research & Inspiration
I started by exploring modern art movements, focusing on Bauhaus, Constructivism, and Minimalism. I wanted a design that felt both contemporary and timeless, using high contrast and geometric abstraction to reflect the book’s subject matter.

Concept Development
Sketching out different compositions helped me experiment with how typography and shapes could interact dynamically. My goal was to merge type and form in a way that felt energetic yet intentional, avoiding static layouts in favor of layered, expressive design.
Typography & Composition
The typography needed to be bold, structured, and seamlessly integrated into the overall design. I tested various typefaces and placements, ultimately choosing a geometric sans-serif that complements the abstract forms. Adjusting the alignment and layering helped create a sense of movement and depth.
Color & Contrast Refinement
A high-contrast palette of black, white, and red gave the design a striking, avant-garde feel. I explored different color combinations but kept returning to this trio for its timeless, impactful aesthetic. The balance of dark and light elements ensures strong visual hierarchy and readability.
Iteration & Finalization
Refining the composition through multiple iterations allowed me to test scale, legibility, and overall impact. Peer feedback helped me fine-tune the balance between structure and abstraction, ensuring the final design felt both artistic and functional.
Production & Delivery
Once finalized, I prepared the design for both print and digital formats, optimizing resolution, color settings, and scalability. The final result is a bold, expressive cover that captures the essence of modern art—striking, unconventional, and full of movement.
