Girl Talk

I had the opportunity to photograph Gregg Michael Gillis, known by his stage name Girl Talk, during his dynamic performances at the legendary Fillmore. Gillis is renowned for his innovative mashups and digital sampling techniques. Trained as a biomedical engineer at Case Western Reserve University, he transitioned into music, blending elements from various songs to craft unique compositions.

The images captured showcase the energy and enthusiasm that define Girl Talk's live shows. Each photograph reflects the vibrant atmosphere and Gillis's engaging stage presence, highlighting his ability to connect with the audience through his eclectic mixes.

These performances at the Fillmore were part of a series of concerts in a year during which Girl Talk held 109 shows. It's evident that this period was a significant time in Gillis's career, marked by extensive touring and a growing fan base.

Presenting these photographs in my portfolio not only underscores my experience in capturing live musical events but also pays homage to an artist who has made a substantial impact on the mashup genre.
